Assess the effectiveness of Clarisonic sonic cleansing in removing makeup compared to over-the-counter facial cleansing products
Methodology:
5 subjects made 4 daily consecutive visits to the study site
Each day, equal amounts of makeup were applied to both cheeks
One cheek was cleansed with Clarisonic sonic cleansing and water while the other cheek was cleansed by hand with a cleansing product and water
After cleansing, the remaining makeup was collected by rubbing the cleansed area with a makeup sponge dampened with alcohol and was then examined
Results:
Sonic cleansing with water alone was more effective at cleansing than 3 over-the-counter cleansers
In subjects with prominent pores and/or acne scars, sonic cleansing was better at removing makeup deep within these surface depressions
In this study performed by Zoe Diana Draelos, MD, Clarisonic sonic cleansing used only with water was reported to be more thorough and better able to traverse the dermatolglyphics, facial pores, and facial scars than other cleansing methods
